Antioxidants
1. What causes disease and aging? What can I do about it?
Nutritional science has turned a major corner in the past decade as scientific researchers and physicians alike have acknowledged oxidation as a primary cause of disease and bodily deterioration and endorsed the preventive benefits of antioxidant
nutrients.
2. What is oxidation and/or oxidative stress?
Oxidation is the slow deterioration of matter as a result of chemical reactions involving oxygen. It's a familiar phenomenon found throughout nature: metals rust, apples turn brown, oils become rancid, rubber crumbles. All are signs of oxidative stress, destruction caused by something called free radicals. Now, imagine what free radicals could do to your body!
3. What causes oxidation and free-radicals?
Chemicals, pollution, fumes, stress, athletics and food additives are among the substances and activities that accelerate the production of free radicals at the cellular level in our bodies. In the air we breathe and the water we drink, we are exposed to as many as 60,000 different chemical toxins, including cigarette smoke, car exhaust and vapors from cleaning fluids. Some, such as byproducts of chlorine in water, are toxic in quantities almost too small to detect. In addition, food additives such as preservatives, artificial colors and flavors, emulsifiers, lubricants, bleaching agents, flavor enhancers and synthetic sweeteners contribute to oxidative reactions in the body.
4. Where can I see the ingredients as listed on the box?
The ingredients as shown on the box can be found here. The
benefits derived by these ingredients can be found here.
5. What is an antioxidant?
Antioxidants in our diet can help fight the formation of free radicals. What's more, these nutritional agents can help to repair damage that has already occurred. Antioxidants include vitamins E and C, as well as numerous carotenoids and a number of phenols and flavonoids found in common foods. Fruits and vegetables are the primary sources of antioxidants, though some occur in grains, beans, meats, seafood and dairy products.
Oligomeric proanthocyanidins, more commonly referred to as OPCs, are the most
powerful antioxidants known to man. OPCs stayed active in the bloodstream for up to 36 hours and exhibit 20 to 50 times more antioxidant power than vitamins A, C and E. These two elements - potency and longevity - are keys to OPCs' overwhelming ability to slow, stop or reverse degeneration.
OPC Factor contains a complete spectrum of antioxidants, OPCs and flavonoids in a delicious dietary supplement drink mix.
OPCs Back
6. What are OPCs?
OPCs are oligomeric proanthocyanidins. When it comes to antioxidants, OPCs
are the super heroes, more powerful against free radicals than even vitamins C and E. Because they are rapidly absorbed and quickly distributed throughout the body, OPCs come to the aid of the body more quickly than other antioxidants. They also neutralize free radicals faster.
OPCs are proven to be 20 to 50 times more potent than vitamins C and E. They remain in the bloodstream for up to an optimum levels from 24 - 36 hours.
OPCs also give a boost to vitamin C by blocking the action of an enzyme that destroys vitamin C.
7. What are they made of?
Red wine, pine bark, grape seed/skin extracts. OPCs are among the most potent antioxidants in the world. Scientific evidence has uncovered seven different types of free-radical activity in the human body. OPCs maintain health by acting both directly and indirectly on the body.
8. What do they do?
In addition to being free-radical fighters, OPCs
protect connective tissue - collagen, in particular - and prevent damage to cellular membranes caused by oxidation. Vascular membranes, the linings of the stomach and intestines, sinus and respiratory cavities, and joints and vertebral spaces all enjoy OPC protection.
9. Why do I need them?
As a super antioxidant, OPCs prevent or reverse
diseases and degeneration. They increase proper blood flow, bring energy to the body, and help in the absorption of other vitamins and minerals into the bloodstream.
10. If I can get them in my diet, why should I supplement? or use OPC Factor?
Although a healthful diet
contains antioxidants, it's difficult to get enough of them from food alone to fend off those dogged free radicals. And, while all antioxidants help to prevent or minimize damage from oxidation, all antioxidants are not created equal. Their protective properties vary based on their structures and biological activities. Some antioxidants help prevent cancer (such as polyphenols in green tea), some protect the heart (such as vitamin F), some
enhance immune function (such as vitamin C) and others increase microvascular circulation (such as anthocyanins in bilberry).
OPC Factor is the best combination of the best antioxidants in the best form your body can use.
11. I eat really well so do I really need OPC Factor?
If you're not eating the seven to nine servings of fruits and vegetables you need EVERY SINGLE DAY, then you are not getting the antioxidant protection you need EVERY SINGLE DAY. And, unfortunately, today's food
supply is not as nutrient-rich as it was just a generation ago.
OPC Factor makes it easy for you to get the natural nutritional protection you need.
Free Radicals Back
12. What is a bioflavonoid?
Bioflavonoids are complex organic plant compounds found in fruits, vegetables and bark. Bioflavonoids seek out and subdue free radicals and work with other important antioxidants to form a protective shield. More than 20,000
different types of bioflavonoids exist. Of these, OPCs are considered the most effective.
13. What is a free-radical?
Our bodies are made up of billions of molecules, each with paired electrons orbiting a protein nucleus. When oxidation destroys one of a molecule's orbiting electrons, a free radical is the result. Scientists call free radicals the most unstable substance in physics.
14. What is free-radical damage?
The free radical's unpaired electron wreaks havoc as it forces the molecule to hunt for a mate. A free radical will interact with the nearest available molecule of any kind lipids (fats), proteins or even DNA. Scientists have discovered that this interaction damages molecules and even causes cells to die.
15. What can free-radical damage do?
Left unchecked, free radicals accelerate tissue damage and are a major contributing factor to the rate and severity of aging. Free radicals are also implicated in the progression of specific degenerative diseases, including adult
respiratory distress, atherosclerosis, cancer, cardiovascular disease, cataracts, Crohns disease, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, Down's syndrome, hepatitis, inflammation, motor-neuron disease, organic brain diseases, renal failure, rheumatoid arthritis, and neuro-degenerative
conditions including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.
16. If oxidation is the cause of disease and aging, what can I do about it? Take charge of your health. Be proactive! Scientific researchers and physicians alike have acknowledged oxidation as a primary cause of disease and bodily deterioration and endorsed the preventive benefits of antioxidant nutrients.
How OPC Factor Works Back
17. What does OPC Factor do exactly to my blood?
OPC Factor's superior antioxidant formula neutralizes and eliminates the harmful effects of free radicals. In as a little as 20 to 40 minutes, OPC
Factor separates and frees blood cells suffering from "aurulo stacking".
18. Are OPC's natural?
OPCs are natural substances that can have positive effects on your health. OPC
Factor is all natural with no artificial color or preservatives. OPC Factor is sweetened with Sucralose, a derivative of sugar.
19. Is OPC Factor safe?
OPC Factor is all natural with no known side effects. It is a safe, beneficial agent with confirmed value in the prevention
of disease and the maintenance of health. OPCs have demonstrated effectiveness in the prevention and treatment of many health conditions through a wide range of dosages.
OPC Factor’s ingredients are Certified for purity and is OPC Factor
FDA compliant for all labeling and ingredients. OPC Factor’s Certificate
of Analysis regarding the purity and accuracy of its ingredients has been
scrutinized by the National Institute of Health (NIH) in an NIH funded
Clinical Study.
20. Can I take them with my other vitamins and medications?
Combining supplements will not normally interfere with
the way they work and in some cases may be beneficial. OPC Factor is a
high-quality, liquid multivitamin and mineral product and is best for
all-round supplementation because it delivers nutrients in the right balance.
Water soluble vitamins such as the B group vitamins and
vitamin C can't be stored by the body. So if you take in more than your
body needs, they are simply excreted. However, the fat soluble vitamins
A and D can accumulate in the body, but pose no danger to your health
if consumed within the safe upper limits indicated for them. The exception
is in pregnancy, when large amounts of vitamin A may pose a risk to the
developing infant. Each OPC Factor packet contains 2500 IU of vitamin
A (100 percent as beta-carotine).
OPC Factor is a high-quality multiple dietary nutrient
that has most of what you need. You may add the additional nutrients you
seek for your own specific needs. Before combining supplements, you may
want to consult your healthcare provider.
About OPC Factor Back
21. How much doe OPC Factor cost?
We are always striving to make OPC Factor affordable, while maintaining the finest, most pure ingredients. For current pricing, go to Order Now page.
22. Why are they in individual packets?
Individual packets preserve the freshness and integrity of
the antioxidant compounds and prevent the digestive enzymes from degrading
the formula. Pocket-size packets also are convenient for "on the go" nutritional
support!
23. Can I get it in a pill?
Liquid vitamins are the wave of the future.
In Europe, the effervescent concept has been recognized
for many years as a premier dosage delivery system. The
Physician's Desk Reference says vitamins and minerals in
a pill form are only 10 to 20 percent absorbed by the body. They often
don't dissolve properly and pass through the body unchanged, having delivered
none of their nutrients. Our researchers at Aliven Labs developed OPC
Factor as a powder that dissolves in water. Our specially balanced isotonic
solution is designed for immediate delivery into the bloodstream. This
is the key to rapid absorption! Tablets or capsules must disintegrate
before their nutrients can dissolve, equilibrate to an isotonic state
and enter the small intestine for absorption. This may take 30 to 50 minutes
and often inhibits the efficacy of the product. Often times many pills
and tablets end up in the sewer in the exact form as first ingested.
24. How do I take OPC Factor?
Simply mix a packet with five ounces of water to produce
a pleasant, grape-flavored beverage. Let it effervesce
for one minute, then drink!
25. What does it taste like?
When mixed with cold water, OPC Factor is a pleasant-tasting,
sparkling, grape-flavored drink that goes down much easier
than pills. Children and seniors appreciate this!
26. How much should I take?
We recommend a loading dose of one serving packet per 75
pounds of body weight daily for the first 10 days. Then,
for general health and well-being, a daily intake of one or two packets
of OPC Factor seems appropriate. For best results take half of your dose
in the morning and the other half in the evening just prior to bed, while
your stomach is empty.
For specific therapeutic purposes, two to three packets
may be required. If you are dealing with a specific health
problem, you are best advised to consult a physician who is receptive
to credible nutritional therapies and who can help monitor your progress.
A daily dose of OPC Factor, if only for its versatile antioxidant
properties, is a wise investment in your good health.

28. What is a delivery system and why is it better?
A delivery system is the term used to describe how a medication is delivered to the body. OPC Factor uses the leading-edge technology of an effervescent, isotonic and hypotonic delivery system. This system guarantees that the health-giving nutrients are delivered to your body in the fastest, best-absorbed way.
29. Why can't I just take a pill?
Liquid vitamins are the wave of the future. In Europe, the effervescent concept has been recognized for many years as a premier dosage delivery system. The Physician's Desk Reference says vitamins and minerals in a pill form are only 10 to 20 percent absorbed by the body. They often don't dissolve properly and pass through the body unchanged, having delivered none of their nutrients. This may take 30 to 50 minutes and often inhibits the efficacy of the product. Often times many pills and tablets end up in the sewer in the exact form as first ingested.
30. What is effervescence? What are its benefits?
When added to water, OPC Factor's bubbly effervescence replicates the buffering action of the body's own intestinally generated, mildly alkaline bicarbonate. In the same way that Alka-Seltzer® buffers the harsh effect of aspirin and thus eliminates stomach upset, OPC Factor's effervescence improves tolerance. Effervescence also dramatically improves absorption, with the added benefit of contributing vital potassium and other key electrolytes to the diet.
31. What is isotonic? What is the benefit?
OPC Factor is a specially balanced isotonic solution, designed for immediate delivery into the bloodstream. This is the key to rapid absorption! Tears, blood plasma, lymph and other body fluids are all isotonic, and isotonic solutions for human consumption have the same fluid pressure as these natural body fluids. Studies show that supplements are better absorbed when they dissolve in conditions that mimic the isotonic contents of your intestines, not your stomach. Remember, the pH of the stomach is too acidic.

AlivenLabs is the developer and distributor. Garden State Nutritionals is the manufacturer.
34. Can I take too much?
Ingredients used in OPC Factor are all natural and have no known side effects. OPC Factor is nontoxic and bioavailable.
35. Is this good for diabetics? Why?
OPC Factor is excellent for diabetics. The formula contains no sugar - it is sweetened with Sucralose. A University of California-Irvine College of Medicine study found that antioxidants not only enhance insulin's ability to reduce blood sugar, but also lower the risks of organ damage that can occur despite insulin treatments.
Research has shown that boosting insulin with vitamins C and E, which are known antioxidants, may improve the drug's effectiveness for treating diabetes. Lutein and lycopene, key ingredients in our formula, have been associated with reduced risk of macular degeneration - a condition diabetics are susceptible to.
36. I hear a lot about inflammation in the news now. Does OPC Factor
help with inflammation?
OPC Factor is an excellent anti-inflammatory. You are correct - inflammation has become one of the hottest areas of medical research. Inflammation is being linked to heart attacks, cancer, Alzheimer's and other diseases. Inflammation is the body's first defense against infection, but when it goes awry, it can head to a host of diseases. All inflammatory disorders involve free radicals. OPC Factor's antioxidant formula quenches free radicals and inhibits inflammation.
We know today that allergies are an immune disorder, just like other inflammatory diseases such rheumatoid arthritis, hepatitis, Crohn's disease, lupus and ulcerative colitis. Oxidative stress has been directly linked to more 100 degenerative conditions of the body.
37. Have OPCs been tested?
OPCs have undergone extensive plant testing and have successfully demonstrated unsurpassed antioxidant activity. With in vivo testing, OPCs have successfully demonstrated that, as a beneficial antioxidant, they are unsurpassed.
Nutritional science has turned a major corner in the past decade, with scientific researchers and physicians alike now fervently testifying to the preventive benefits of antioxidant nutrients and acknowledging oxidation as a primary cause of disease and bodily deterioration.
